Chief Fire's Otter Tour Continues

The Otter™  tour continues to impress both fire departments and emergency management professionals

West Chester, PA. June 18, 2018/News and Updates/ -- Chief Fire, an American manufacturer and fire apparatus expert located in the Greater Philadelphia area has been traveling to various parts of America for their Otter™  Pump Tour to show the benefits of owning an Otter.

In May, Chief Fire held demonstrations with a variety of fire departments in both Ohio and Pennsylvania.

In Ohio, the Otter was put-to-the-test in a flood dewatering scenario. The pump was placed in a body of water, and the water was displaced to an alternate location away from the flooded area.

Jeremy Keller, Rural Operations Coordinator said, it's "Easy to deploy, easy to recover, easy to operate, great pumping capability ... the self-contained Otter system would be a great asset for rural water supply, wildland-urban interface operations, or water supply for an air-tanker base or helibase."

In Pennsylvania, we assisted with training exercises in a multi-departmental demonstration. The Otter was able to successfully pump water from a lake to power multiple deck guns. Seen below is a ladder truck and engine distributing the water back into the lake after receiving the flow from the Otter.

"Really nice and compact unit" said Steve Shelton, Assistant Chief Engineer. "There's no need to get an engine that close to a water supply or tie up a pumper to feed your water supply. It can be handled with a utility and a small crew."

Then on June 16th, Chief Fire's Otter made its journey to Crawford County, PA for a great rural water scenario demonstration with local fire departments. Seen here, the Otter was able to get much closer to the water source compared to the fire trucks. In a real-life scenario, this would allow the fire engines to remain at a much more strategic location to resolve the hazard. The Otter did a great job supplying water a deck gun and Blitzfire ground monitor!

Thanks to everyone for allowing us to stop by on our Otter tour!
